NTR 2800 || Plant Based Nutrition
This course covers concepts related to plant-based diets, including potential health benefits, nutritional considerations, and diet planning. Identification of plant-based foods and preparation including strategies for adopting or promoting plant-based diets.
HS 2000 || Introduction to Health and Health Behaviors
This course covers foundational knowledge on health and disease processes and explores the impact health behaviors such as stress management, sleep, dietary intake and physical activity have on risk for chronic diseases including obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer, with an emphasis on prevention. In addition, this course will focus on evidence based recommendations, the use of health sciences research, and identification of credible sources.
NTR 2500 || Human Nutrition and Health
This course explores the chemical, biological, social, and psychological elements of human nutrition. Some of the subjects covered include the different constituents of food and their functions in human health and disease. In addition, this course focuses on evidence-based research and application.
NTR 2650 || Nutrition Assessment Methods
Students will learn about nutritional assessment methods including anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, dietary and ecological approaches to assessing nutritional status of individuals and households.
NTR 2651 || Nutrition Assessment Methods Lab
Application of concept related to the anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, dietary and ecological realms of nutrition assessment of individuals, groups, and communities. This course supplements and provide hands-on experience related to material covered in NTR 2650.
NTR 3000 || Nutrition Research Methods
Students will gain an understanding of nutrition research methods and evaluate and critique both scientific literature and lay sources of information. An emphasis will be placed on synthesizing information from a variety of sources and presenting information in both verbal and written formats.
