Music

The Practical Music programme of one of the approved External Music Examination Bodies, namely the ABRSM, Trinity-Guildhall and Unisa Practical Music Examination, may be offered in Grade 12 in terms of the following conditions:

1. The external Music programme may be offered only as an eighth NSC subject.

2. A candidate may only enrol for the selected external Music programme in his/her Grade 12 year.

3. The selected external Music Practical programmes must be offered at Grade 7 Music level.

4. The prerequisite Theory component (linked with its associated Examination Body) is Grade 6.

5. The practical component must be played by the candidate not later than June of the Grade 12 year.

6. The theory component must be completed by the candidate not later than October of the Grade 11 year.
