Western Tour III

Third time's a charm. Hell, so was the first and second time....2020 Charlie and Rascal

Left July 1st and did the clockwise trip again. Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, North Dakota, Iowa, Illinois then home by Labor Day.

Camped/rode at:

  • Winding River Resort, Grand Lake CO -Accompanied by Julie/Scott DeVoss and Lynn Golemon . Arrived July 7 , Sasha tied up :(, saw two sets of moose and babies. Rode out of camp, trailer to Yellowstone...love ride to Lake Vera-16 miles, easy ride out n back Granite Falls 10.5 miles, Cascade falls out of camp-15 miles....fed chipmunk out of my hand :), Ohahy TH-Green Lake/12.5 miles least favorite ride...rode 91 miles

  • M Lazy C Resort, Lake George CO Arrived July 17, 2020 , roomy campsite, great for dogs, some covered stalls Sites 10, 11, and 12 are covered and great! Camped with Julie and Scott, met Pat and Scott Schoene/local with beautiful place, rode with Gail Fiebleman from Texas. Got hailed on....brrrrr, Favorite-trailer to Box Canyon TH Lizard Rock Trail, several rides out of camp-Round mountain-beautiful views, Dinner at Manitou SPrings mexican-great food, Friday, July 24th, last trail day for Beau....Charlie had to carry him home :( Benji loved mud holes, and thought he was part pig!Shopped at Fairplay, ate at South Park Brewery and fun drinks at bar in Hurcell. Ate at McGintys and at Shcoene's home...awesome!

  • Bridle Ridge Campground, Custer SD-Arrived Sunday, July 26th. Nice, new camp, dog friendly, no intenet $45 full hookup plus $14/horse/night.... owner-Sherry, covered barn...Rode from camp-Bear Mountain-13 miles, Trailered to Palmer Creek TH to do my fav/Harney Peak 14 miles..Rascal lost back shoe, so Joe walked home...met with Bob/LeeAnn Piggett in Hill City at our favorite Alpine Inn $13.95 for 9 oz filet dinner and killer desserts. Used Jesse James/farrier $110 new set of shoes 605 484 1512 and on FB. Hay $6/bale, Can ride from camp to back of Crazy Horse-14 mi . Aug 1 trailered to Hell's Canyon with Bob/LeeAnn 6 miles of beauty!!! Pizza Mill in Custer-great pizza! Charlie hauled about 200lbs of rose quartz!!!

  • Ten Sleep RV Campground, Ten Sleep Wyoming-Sherry and Shawn arrived Aug 30. Must trailer out to ride...well worth it ! Deer Park TH-Cathedral ride 12 mi, Long, hard 24 mile ride to LAKE SOLITUDE out of Deer Park TH-rocky, lots of climbs.... rode to Ten Sleep Lake, Bear Park, Muic at brewhouse, pizza at saloon, , Rode to West Ten Sleep Lake 12 mi with Brent and Christy of MN who sold Frosty to Lea V.

  • Little Missouri State Park, Killdeer ND Aug 11-15 Hot, hot and lots of flies....BADGER on trail head on with Rascal...lol , oil fields, some edgy rides, deer

  • Sully Creek State Park, Medora ND Aug 15-19 Site 40 great for all, $12/night....Rode 22 miles to restaurant at Buffalo Gap....Once is enough/boring...Fantastic band at Little Missouri Bar and Grill-Trump lovers, oil baron buying drinks...how did we get home? Great shopping in town! Rode 15 mi on Maah Daah Hey trail Jeff/Lavern trailered us to Plumely Draw TH and we rode hoe from there.....can see 18 hole golf course 2 miles from camp

  • Webster County Fairgrounds, Fort Dodge IA Aug 19$15 electric...drove to Humboldt for Western Edge western store...Aug 21 went to visit family in Illinois :))) Great visit with all! Anne Bonestroo/Bones Ranch Custer, SD across from Hell Canyon 605 673 4010

We had planned to go to Montana, but the Crow Indian Reservation was about to shut down travel (ChinaVirus) so we modified the trip.
