What is SAE?
SAE stands for Supervised Agricultural Experience. In an FFA member's SAE program, they take their knowledge from the classroom and apply it to a real world situation or learning experience.
Every member of the OABCIG FFA Chapter is required to obtain and maintain an SAE program throughout their time in our program.
Below are examples of our members projects. Projects cover a large variety of topics such as Entrepreneurship - Animal Production, Entrepreneurship - Lawn Care, Placement - Grain Crops, Placement - Supply Stores, Placement - Turfgrass Management/ Landscaping, and many more areas that are covered.
Member, Gracie Raasch exhibiting one of her SAE Projects at the Iowa State Fair in 2025. Gracie operates three entrepreneurship projects of Show Swine, Show Cattle, and Show Sheep. Each year Gracie purchases her projects to exhibit each year at county, district, and state fairs.
Caden Spetman's SAE project is his breeding flock of sheep that he has continued to expand over his high school career. Caden has grown his flock from 4 ewes to 24 ewes, 2 rams, and 20 lambs, and counting. He takes care of the daily tasks of caring for his flock and upkeep of fence.
Myles Iversen's SAE Project is his Lawn Care business he started when he was younger. Myles mows community members yards, weed eats, mulches leaves, and much more to ensure proper care of community yards.
Brooke Luscombe's SAE Project is working at Bomgaars as a paid placement. Brooke stock shelves, communicates with customers, and checks customer's out in the front.
Abigail Bergman's SAE Project is breeding, raising, and selling Great Dane dogs. Abigail has produced 30 puppies and has sold them all around the United States. She is responsible of the daily care of the dogs. She also helps in the breeding process, such as ensuring appropriate breeding pairs and assisting during the whelping process.
Aiden Miller works for community member Kevin Weber assisting in all aspects of production agriculture. Aiden does field work, maintenance, and much more.
