"If you are humble, eager, and passionate enough, everyone is a teacher, everywhere is a school, and everything is a learning resource."
My fascination for learning started early when my father introduced me to bedtime stories. The sparks of wonder and curiosity he elicited with his elaborate storytelling inspired me to adopt reading as a habit. Growing up, my family instills the value of education. My grandfather made his grandchildren recite hadith and Al-Qur'an verses about the significance of education in Islam. I also grow up listening to my mom's story about her students in kindergarten. My sister is one of the first and most important learning partners I have, her passion for science and healthcare truly is inspiring. Their examples made me who I am today, someone with a relentless passion for learning and an eagerness to try new things.
"Learn. Unlearn. Relearn"
My education journey started when I took the Software Engineering program for my vocational high school. I learned many things, but the field's rigidity and exclusivity (at least then) were not for me. For my undergraduate program, I wanted to choose a program where I could contribute to the education field without being a teacher. Then, I found Educational Technology, it was love at first study (is that even a real phrase?). What do you mean I can learn why is learning so enthralling for me and how to facilitate effective learning for others while simultaneously helping teachers? Sign me up! One of the most mind-blowing attitudes I adopted while studying Educational Technology is to approach everything like a novice, being teachable, and having a growth mindset, because learning is idiosyncratic so rather than finding "the best" methods and strategies for learning, we should strive for "the most appropriate".
After graduating, I worked for a year as layout editor for my faculty journals: Jurnal Perspektif Ilmu Pendidikan (Education Perspective Journal) and VISI Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan Pendidikan Nonformal (VISI Scientific Journal of Teacher and Education Practitioner of Nonformal Education). Then, I worked for 2 years as a learning content developer at PT Nindya Karya, a government-owned construction company. I was specifically responsible for their LMS (Learning Management System) development. I am a first-year graduate student in the Learning Technology and Experience Design program at New York University Steinhardt.Â
