New MSW Student Orientation FAQ

AM I REQUIRED TO ATTEND ORIENTATION?

Yes, orientation is required for all new MSW students. If you cannot attend orientation due to personal reasons, please email silver.orientation@nyu.edu.

I AM A NON-MATRICULATED STUDENT AT NYU SILVER. DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ORIENTATION?

Orientation is for matriculated students only. For any questions on learning more about Silver, please email silver.admissions@nyu.edu.

WHEN AND WHERE IS ORIENTATION BEING HELD?

MSW Student Orientation will take place in-person at the Eisner & Lubin Auditorium at the Kimmel Center (60 Washington Square South) on Wednesday, August 24th and Thursday, August 25th. Attendance at both Part One and Part Two is required.

The main orientation space, Eisner & Lubin Auditorium, located on the 4th floor of the Kimmel building, will be accessible by elevator or by stairs. There will be row seating in the auditorium; some activities may require a degree of movement. There will be one breakout session (on 8/25) where students will relocate to other classroom spaces on campus. If you require mobility accommodation, please email silver.orientation@nyu.edu and we will make sure you are part of the group remaining in the auditorium for the breakout session.

If you haven't received an email prompting you to register, please check your personal email (including your spam folder). If you don't see it, please email silver.orientation@nyu.edu.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO PREPARE FOR ORIENTATION?

If you would like to take notes, please have a pen, paper, tablet, etc. ready. Dress comfortably! Have snacks, water, and other things you need to feel like you can engage fully!

I ATTEND THE ROCKLAND OR WESTCHESTER CAMPUS. DO I COME TO ORIENTATION?

Students attending the Rockland or Westchester County campus will attend a separate orientation session at their home campus, in addition to the sessions on the Washington Square campus. Stay tuned for more details from your home campus.

WHEN IS THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES?

The first day of classes is Thursday, September 1st.
