The University established the Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee (IAAC) in order to monitor the recruitment and academic progress of student-athletes. The Committee regularly reviews the academic standing of the student-athletes and reports generated by the Office of Student-Athlete Excellence (OSAE). The IAAC in conjunction with the OSAE honor the academic success of varsity student athletes with the following three awards.
This award recognizes graduating student-athletes in their senior year who have earned academic distinction and have competed on a varsity team for at least two years, including their graduation year (unless they exhausted eligibility sooner). Student-athletes who win this award represent the aspirations of the Athletes Department and the University: They have successfully combined academic excellence with athletic prowess.
