Launched in March 2018, the Usability Lab is a research initiative led by the Office of the Provost.
We are a team of researchers who collaborate with the NYU community to lead research projects that solicit feedback from the users of NYU services and technology, such as learning environments, databases, and websites.
We are free of charge.
The goal of the Lab’s research is to inform design improvements that benefit the NYU community.
The mission of the NYU Usability Lab is to research the use and design of technology to ensure the products and services used by the NYU community are intuitive, effective, and inclusive. The Lab aims to uphold its mission in three key ways. By:
Servicing the Community: The Lab provides usability-related services through research project work and educational programming, to support a user-centered approach to creating experiences at NYU.
Sharing Knowledge: The Lab aims to share research findings with the greater community to influence user-centered approaches to experiences at NYU.
Conducting Innovative Research: The Lab seeks to develop and answer ground-breaking research questions that place NYU at the forefront of user-centered best practices, and contributes to the field of usability research.
