Student Ombuds

NYU Silver Student Ombuds: Here to Listen

What does the Student Ombuds do?

  1. Assist NYU Silver students in exploring and determining options to help resolve conflicts, problematic issues or concerns that may be academic or non-academic in nature, and in accessing the necessary resources and support

  2. Bring systemic concerns to the attention of NYU Silver leadership for resolution

The Ombuds is here to listen to your concerns in a safe setting about life at Silver and confidentially discuss interpersonal difficulties, school and university policies and bureaucracy, as well as any situation or issues affecting your success as a Silver student.

Together, you and the Ombuds will explore options, develop strategies, review policies, and manage expectations so you can seek resolution. Help will be provided to you in a confidential and solutions-focused environment. You control the process and decide when - or even whether - to take action.

In order to afford students the greatest freedom in using the services that the Ombuds provides, the Ombuds is
independent of school/university hierarchy, operates informally/”off-the-record” and does not retain notes, is neutral during all conflicts, and confidential.
