Climate Support
NYU Silver is committed to building a community where every person is valued, welcomed and supported by campus-wide collaborative efforts that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
In the event students do experience harm as a result of identity-based bias, discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation, our Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in collaboration with Silver students, faculty, staff, alumni; our Social Justice Praxis Committee; and NYU’s Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) and Office of Global Inclusion (OGI), has developed a Silver Climate Support Protocol for Students. It is designed to empower the person who has been targeted by facilitating community care and restorative resolution, providing support in reporting to NYU’s Bias Response Line as well as offering peer assistance in navigating both the University- and School-level processes.
While we are continuing to develop and seek resources to support similar School-level protocols for Silver faculty and staff, we have detailed the university- and school-level reporting procedures for Silver faculty and staff who believe that they have been subjected to identity-based bias, discrimination, harrassment, and/or retaliation should follow.
Bias and Harassment
If You Are Experiencing Bias or Harassment
Report it to the NYU Bias Response Line via bias.response@nyu.edu, (212) 998-2277, or by completing the Bias Response form.
NYU Silver has a Climate Support Protocol for Students, separate from and complementary to NYU’s Bias Response Line, which is designed to provide a support system for students who have experienced harm based on their identity(ies).
Students can also discuss their experience directly with Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Dr. Richeleen Dashield at rad9975@nyu.edu.
Reporting Sexual Misconduct
Through the NYU Wellness Exchange, students can access confidential support in response to incidents of sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and stalking. Crisis Response Counselors (CRCs) are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the Wellness Exchange Sexual Assault Support Line at (212) 443-9999.
Note: If the incident occurred at a Practicum placement, you must report it to Dr. Anne Dempsey, Assistant Dean for Practicum Education & Community Partnerships at anne.dempsey@nyu.edu.
