Benefits/Housing-Leave/Sabbatical

Benefits Changes

Please contact PeopleLink, at (212) 992-5465 or askpeoplelink@nyu.edu with questions regarding benefits during leave.

The manner in which benefits deductions are administered may change, particularly for leave without pay.

In such cases, health care coverage can be maintained via a monthly invoice process.

Within approximately one week of the start of your leave, please look for a system generated message prompting any applicable action via the Benefits Resource Center.

PeopleLink can assist with setting up the necessary details. Please visit NYU Faculty Benefits for general information.

For assistance with matters related to retirement contributions, please reach out to TIAA or call 844-698-8422.

If you plan to travel internationally during your approved leave/sabbatical please contact Rafael Acevedo, Jr. (ra6@nyu.edu) at your earliest convenience.

Faculty Housing Arrangements

You will need to change the way you pay your rent if your salary is reduced while you are on leave to an extent that may not cover your regular monthly housing costs.

NYU offers three rent payment options: (1) personal check, (2) Payroll Deduction, (3) ACH – automatic deduction from a checking account.

If you are going on leave without pay, you will not be eligible to participate in the Payroll Deduction program (#2).

You must inform the Cushman and Wakefield Accounts Receivable Office of the alternative method you would like to select during your leave.

Please reach out to Elsa Helligar elsa.helligar@cis.cushwake.com / (646) 997-9983 or Michael Broderick michael.broderick@cushwake.com / (646) 997-9996.

The general Cushman and Wakefield email is cushwake@nyu.edu.

If you would like to pay by personal check, a rent invoice will be mailed to your current address in faculty housing. If you select ACH (#3), Cushman and Wakefield will explain the online enrollment process. The ACH method is recommended for those tenants who are traveling internationally.

Once you return from leave, you can re-enroll in payroll deductions; prior arrangements will not resume automatically.

Please contact Ms. Helligar or Mr. Broderick to complete the appropriate paperwork.

The general phone number of Cushman & Wakefield is (646) 997-9988, located at 2 Washington Square Village.

Please contact C&W directly with questions. Please note FAS Academic Appointments does not handle housing issues.

You may also contact the Faculty Housing Office at facultyhousing.office@nyu.edu for any additional questions and information regarding faculty housing policies and procedures.
