The Applied Psychology Professional Development Awards fund skill-building activities such as conference presentations, workshops, and trainings. The awards are designed to defray travel costs and registration fees for these experiences.
All Applied Psychology students in good standing with their program are eligible to apply.
This award is ONLY for future travel and will not provide reimbursements.
An Advisor/Mentor will be contacted for approval.
Budget justification is required (What should my budget look like? (Here is an example)
All travel and expenses must follow the NYU Travel and Expense Policy
Can I apply if my activity is after I graduate? No, these funds are to help current students during the academic program.
Can I apply before my presentation has been accepted to a conference? Priority will always go to those students who have accepted presentations/posters to a conference. We suggest you wait until your presentation has been accepted before applying.
Anyone receiving PD funds must present their work at Psych Cafe, which will appear on the AP website.
There are multiple deadlines throughout the academic year to apply for travel funds. Please apply for funds as they correspond with your travel or workshop dates.

Awards amount up to $1,200
Eligibility for APUG students applying for professional development awards:
Must have completed one semester at NYU
Students are responsible for any coursework that is missed due to travel or PD activities
Must be in good academic standing
Award amounts up to $1,350
Eligibility for MA students applying for professional development awards:
Must have completed one semester at NYU
Students are responsible for any coursework that is missed due to travel or PD activities
Must be in good standing;
Minimum GPA 3.0
Cannot have a warning or be on probation
MA Counseling Students:
Must have passed Foundations and Lab Course
Award amounts up to $1,600
Eligibility for PhD Students:
Must have completed one semester at NYU
Must be in good academic standing
It is strongly encouraged that you apply for the Steinhardt Doctoral Research and Travel Grant before applying for department funds
