Language Week 2025: A Heroic Celebration of English!
What makes a hero? Strength? Courage? Or the ability to inspire others? This year’s Language Week, themed “Heroes Around Us,” transformed our school into a hub of
language, creativity, and fun-filled challenges. From thrilling competitions to heartfelt messages, students embraced the heroic spirit while sharpening their English skills in the
most engaging way possible!
A Hero’s Journey Begins
With the English Passport distributed during the morning assembly, students were officially launched into a two-week adventure, collecting stamps by participating in various activities. The more they took part, the greater their chance of winning special rewards—because everyhero deserves recognition!
Music, Laughter, and Twisted Tongues
Language Week brought plenty of music and entertainment, starting with the Lunchtime Song Dedication program. Students submitted their song requests and messages in advance, and during lunchtime, selected tracks played over the PA system, turning the campus into a mini radio station. From pop hits to heartfelt dedications, students got a chance to express their appreciation for their friends, teachers, and even family members—all through the power of song!
Meanwhile, the Tongue Twister Challenge had students and teachers battling it out in a
hilarious test of pronunciation. Who could say "How can a clam cram in a clean cream can?"; the fastest? Some conquered it like pros, while others left the audience in stitches with their tangled tongues.
At the Lunchtime Busking Session, students showed off their musical talents, performing classics like Fly Me to the Moon and A Whole New World. But it wasn’t just about enjoying the music—audience members had to fill in the missing lyrics to earn a stamp. It was a fun and interactive way to enjoy English through song!
Heroic Showdowns at the Weekly Assembly
The Weekly Assembly brought two major competitions that had students on the edge of their seats.
For junior forms, the Gem Stones Challenge tested their teamwork, creativity, and quick thinking. Just like in The Avengers, students had to complete six heroic tasks to collect all the stones. Whether it was solving word puzzles, decoding anagrams, or performing
superhero moves in perfect sync, students worked together to prove their worth as true heroes.
At the same time, senior students took on the epic Kafoot Challenge, where they had to kick a slipper onto the correct answer on a giant canvas. Sounds simple? Think again!
With slippers flying wildly and teammates cheering (or laughing at unexpected misses), it was a test of precision, strategy, and pure fun. Some students nailed it on their first try, while others sent their slippers on unintended adventures—but that was all part of the excitement!
Grateful Hearts and Heroic Deeds
Not all heroes wear capes—some just need a little appreciation. At the Grateful Heroes Booths, students wrote thank-you messages to the important people in their lives, from parents and teachers to classmates and school staff. They then decorated their notes with
creative designs before posting them on a giant display board, turning it into a wall of gratitude.
For those looking for a bit of action, the Nerf Gun Quote Challenge had students aiming and shooting at famous hero quotes. A perfect hit on the right words earned them a stamp in their passports! Nearby, others took on the "Should vs. Should Not" Challenge, sorting behaviors into the right categories to understand what it really means to be a hero.
A Grand Finale of Fun and Prizes
As Language Week came to an end, students eagerly exchanged their hard-earned stamps for exciting souvenirs. Whether they participated in games, music events, or writing challenges, everyone walked away with newfound confidence in English, a deeper appreciation for heroes, and memories of an unforgettable week.
A massive thank you to all the students, teachers, and staff who made this event possible.Until next year—keep learning, keep having fun, and keep being the heroes of your own stories!
