The purpose of Magic Grants is to assist you with the purchase of a good or service that will help you to reach your post-secondary goals. Magic Grants are awarded after you complete all of the ICCAN program requirements and submit your portfolio.
Magic Grant Amounts
10th Grade Students: up to $1,000
11th & 12th Grade Students: up to $1,500
Process
Magic Grants must be selected from the ICCAN: Magic Grant Menu. In limited cases, we will approve items that are not on the menu. To receive an item that is not on the menu, you must complete a ICCAN: Proposal for New Magic Grant Item.
Timeline
Feb 18, 2026: Magic Grant Process & Selection Worksheet will be emailed to all ICCAN teens.
Mar 27, 2026 @ 11:59 PM: Proposals for New Magic Grant Items must be submitted. This is OPTIONAL and should only be completed if you cannot identify an item on the menu that works for you.
Apr 10, 2026: If you submitted a Proposal for a New Item, you will be notified if it is approved or not.
Apr 24, 2026 @ 11:59 PM: Magic Grant Selection Worksheet must be submitted by this time in order for it to be considered.
May 29, 2026 @ 11:59 PM: ICCAN requirements must be completed.
Jun - July 2026: Item pick-up at these NYPL locations (dates subject to change based on shipping and other factors):
Sat, June 13, 11AM-2PM: SASB (Note: this is only if a participant has completed all ICCAN requirements by 5/1/2026)
Tues, June 30, 3-6PM: SASB
Mon, July 6, 3-6PM: Grand Concourse
Wed, July 8, 3-6PM: St. George
Sat, July 11, 11AM-2PM: SASB

The deadline to submit your Magic Grant Selection Worksheet is April 24, 2026. If you do not submit your application by this date, you will be unable to submit it and will forfeit your Magic Grant. Magic Grant applications will be reviewed and held until you complete all of your ICCAN requirements. Magic Grant items will not be ordered until you complete the requirements.
