This INFOhio blog post was created in response to the COVID-19 school closures and is regularly updated with numerous announcements, webinar links, and curated resources to support teachers as they prepare for remote learning. Check back regularly for additions to this growing resource.

INFOhio is providing free, temporary access to several digital resources of great benefit to teachers, students, and families! Click on the link above for the full list and additional details. Some highlights are listed below:
Get easy, free access to more than 75,000 standards-aligned open resources ranging from lesson plans, to articles, to webquests, to eBooks and more! Limit your search by grade, subject, item type, etc. by using the menu on the left side of the page.
INFOhio has a large streaming library of educational videos that can be searched by title, series, subject, playlist, or content area. The "Browse" button enables the user to see a list of subjects covered or a list of series titles. Videos come complete with teachers' guides and citation links.
Remote Learning with INFOhio: Grades 9-12
Read for detailed information about World Book Student and World Book Advanced, as well as Explora for Grades 9-12, Science Online, Points of View Reference Center and the Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center. Each of these links takes you to an information page with additional information and tutorials. Click the green "Open" button on the left to open the actual resource.
Access and register for upcoming INFOhio training webinars to dive deeply into various INFOhio resources. Previous webinars can be browsed and watched by clicking on the "Archive" button on the right side of the page.

Audible
Audible has made their children's and teen audiobooks available for FREE streaming for the duration of the school closures due to COVID-19. Click on "Start Listening" to open a page of options that can be searched by age, title, etc. There are classics available, as well. There is a help link available for those who may need additional support to get things up and running.
Bookshare Blog Post: "Ebooks Everywhere! How to Make Sense of the Options"
Bookshare is a free resource that allows students with identified print disabilities to read digitized versions of popular books with important modifications to make reading more accessible. We do have an account with them for our identified students. This blog post reviews the many always-free/COVID-19 free/options for those with reading barriers that are available (both free and paid) during this time of remote teaching and learning. I have already promoted some of these, but there are others on this list that are new. It's worth a look to see what's available.
Destiny Library Catalog
CHS eBooks via Destiny Discover
There are eBooks available in our own library catalog. Click the link to go to the Destiny Discover page and explore the eBooks that we own. Ebooks can be "opened" or "checked out" ("opened" means that they can be read without being checked out, but users must log in to actually save the book for later use). Students can access our library catalog via Clever, under "District Links." The library website link is there, too. In order to check out an eBook, the user must be logged in. Students log in using their assigned student I.D. (for both username and password). Questions should be directed to Mrs. Hubbard (mhubbard1@nwlsd.org).

Eric Curts is a well known technology integration leader whose popular blog is filled with resources, podcasts, webinars, and training videos for educators and tech-integration leaders. The above link takes you to a page of short, specific training videos to help with using Google Meet for remote learning.
EBSCO Resources to Support Schools and Public Libraries Impacted by COVID-19
EBSCO is offering numerous free resources to assist teachers, students, and families who are navigating through the transition to online teaching and learning. Of special note to high school students are the test-prep study links provided for AP, ACT, SAT, and GED tests.
Google Classroom Cheat Sheets for Teachers and Students
Kasey Bell of Shake Up Learning has created two excellent Google Classroom cheat sheets - one for teachers and one for students. These cover the basic and more advanced functions of Google Classroom and make a handy reference when in need of a quick reminder or lesson. Even if you are a seasoned Google Classroom user, these booklets will come in handy from time to time. Kasey has given these documents a Creative Commons license, so they may be shared with attribution.

Internet Archive
Internet Archive has provided free access to its extensive collection of eBooks and other digital resources. Users can access eBooks without a waitlist, which means checkouts are immediately available for use. Sign up for a free Internet Archive account to get started. Additional links provided below.
The National Emergency Library was a temporary collection of books that supported emergency remote teaching, research activities, independent scholarship, and intellectual stimulation while universities, schools, training centers, and libraries were closed due to COVID-19. The National Emergency Library launched on March 24, 2020, and closed on June 16, 2020.
After June 16, books in the National Emergency Library are available to one borrower at a time using controlled digital lending. Browse our library.

The Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OELMA) has curated and organized numerous digital learning resources for teachers, students, and families. Use the menu to the left to explore these resources.
Ohio Ed Techs has compiled a library of training videos to help teachers who are learning how to deliver online instruction. They also have a YouTube channel. Please check back for updates.
