Planning for the Future


First, start your search in the Destiny Library Catalog:

* Select Colerain Sr. High School.

* Click on the Login button.

* Enter your student ID for both your username and password.

* Select the Catalog tab at the top and perform a basic search using the keyword "careers".

Apprenticeships are a great way to acquire industry-specific job training. Click on "I'm a Career Seeker" to learn all about apprencticeships and what you have to do to get involved.

Big Future helps students to begin the process of researching college majors, reading career profiles, and figuring out the best path for the future. Choose an interest area or explore the resources under the "Get Started" tab to begin your journey.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics provides data about market activity, working conditions, productivity, and other information about the U.S. economy to support public and private decision-making.

The BLS has a website specifically targeted to K-12 youth. There are many interactive activities to help students learn about the many career options available to them.

The BLS's Occupational Outlook Handbook is a searchable database of careers. Either browse the occupation groups on the left or use the search bar at the top right to find detailed information about many different occupations. Each profile includes a description of that occupation, required education and/or training, current wage information, and job outlook for that industry. There is also information for related careers.

The Career OneStop provides users with career profiles, training information, and a job search tool. There is also an interest inventory to help match users with possible career matches.

This site provides detailed information about various occupations. Start by selecting a job category and then selecting the specific job profile to read for additional information.

Search for articles from industry trade publications. Several publications are accessed with each search.

* After entering the database, select "Business Source Premier" and click the "Continue" button at the top.

* Select "Advanced Search".

* Select "Full Text".

* Perform your search.

MyFuture helps users find information and related resources about careers, jobs, college, and military service.

Ohio Means Jobs provides a comprehensive resource for those who are exploring careers or a career change, as well as those who are looking for jobs. There is also an extensive library of training and practice for industry-specific tests as well as college entrance exams.

Take this inventory to find careers that match your preferences (based on the answers you provide).

This is another option for finding the perfect job/career fit for you.

Look for specific information about a chosen occupation or career field.

O*Net provides tools for researching occupations and connecting data from different occupation fields.

This is the U.S. Department of Labor's information page for apprenticeships. Here you will be able to find industry-recognized apprenticeship programs as well as other pertinent information and data.

My Next Move is an interactive tool for job seekers and students to learn more about their career options. My Next Move has tasks, skills, salary information, and more for over 900 different careers. Users can find careers through keyword search; by browsing industries that employ different types of workers; or through the O*NET Interest Profiler, a tool that offers personalized career suggestions based on a person's interests and level of work experience.
