• 45% Assessments:  These assignments typically come at the end of a bigger unit (i.e. Argumentative Writing, Story Elements, etc.). They include tests, quizzes, projects, and processed writing assignments. Class time will be given to prepare for assessments or work on projects and writing assignments. 

• 35% Classwork: This category is comprised of in-class assignments. Most will be graded for accuracy however there may occasionally be an assignment graded for completion. These assignments will be done primarily in class, however should you run out of time in class, you might need to finish them at home. These assignments will help you to learn and practice the concepts and ideas we are working on in class.

• 20% Independent Work: Assignments that fall into this category include homework assignments. Homework is any assignment that is completed entirely (or near entirely) at home.
