State office is an opportunity for dedicated DECA members to represent the state of Nevada as an officer. Our chapter runs a primary to choose nominees to send for each state office position, where official nominees campaign at SCDC to win an officer position. While being a state officer requires a lot of commitment, it can be a very fun and rewarding experience.

Practices the “Hospitality” element of the DECA mission. Responsible for providing support and leadership statewide to the Nevada DECA membership and connecting members to a welcome, value-filled, fun educational experience through outreach efforts.
Practices the “Emerging Leaders” element of the DECA Mission. Responsible for providing support and leadership to all statewide noncompetitive event career and leadership activities.
Practices the “Marketing” element of the DECA mission. Responsible for providing support and leadership on all statewide and chapter philanthropy and fund development efforts.
Practices the “Finance” element of the DECA Mission. Responsible for providing support and leadership on statewide philanthropy efforts.
After being selected by the chapter as a nominee for a state office position, nominees will spend the couple of months before SCDC preparing for their campaign. On the first day of SCDC, nominees have an interview with the state board regarding their state office position and take a knowledge test about the history and functions of DECA. On the second day of SCDC, nominees will spend the day campaigning, where they will have a booth set up where they promote themselves and their goals. In the evening, nominees give a prepared 2-minute campaign speech in front of the Nevada DECA voting delegates (Except for presidential nominees, who give their speech at opening session). A candidate's scoring rubric is divided into thirds, where 33% of their score is based on their performance on the knowledge test, 33% is for the interview, and 33% is from voting.
