Sabers’ Summer Soirees: Insider Look into Summer Break

As the final bell rings on the last day of school, sabers are going their own ways to their summer plans. Some are travelling to another state or country, some are roadtriping to California or Utah, and some are just spending their summer in Vegas. Because of everyone parting ways when school ends, what are sabers doing this summer?
Mateo Ostorga, a 9th grader at South CTA, usually spends his summer in Vegas, but this summer he is going on a Royal Caribbean cruise. “I am excited to play basketball on the cruise,” said Ostorga.
Besides spending time in the Caribbean sand beaches, Ostorga plans to work and focus on his sport this summer as well. For his time he spends in Las Vegas for the summer, he plans on spending time with his family, girlfriend and playing basketball.

Ostorga also wants to spend a lot of time with his little siblings and sister because, due to sports, he can’t really spend as much time as he would like to with them. When asked, he said, “And like I said, I could go to the park with my siblings, just have some bonding time,” said Ostorga.
“The other summers were really me staying in the house, and I need to get out more,” said Ostorga.
This summer he doesn’t know his specific goals, but he does know he wants to work on himself and motivate himself to have a better summer because of what he has gone through in the last few months. He can’t wait to travel with his mom, stepdad, and his close family and can’t wait to see what this summer has in store for him.
