Makeup is a great way for people to express themselves, and because there are different kinds of people in the world, it is interesting to see their personalities show in how they wear makeup. There are a lot of styles that have been trendy recently but just to name a few, The Clean Girl Makeup, Latina Copy and Paste Makeup, and Grunge makeup have become very popular. Over the past few years, lots of people have incorporated these looks into their appearance, and have influenced others to try doing the same.
CLEAN GIRL MAKEUP
This makeup look was based on an aesthetic called "The Clean Girl Aesthetic", consisting of a minimalistic, put-together, look. The makeup likewise consists of a minimalistic approach, wearing subtle makeup as if one isn't wearing any at all. An article, "Achieving the Ultimate Clean Girl Aesthetic" states "The clean girl opts for subtle, ‘no makeup’ makeup looks. Think fluffy brows, dewy skin, light blush, clear lip gloss, and mascara. There’s no heavy contour or bright eyeshadow looks for the clean girl, but rather a ‘glow from within’ type of radiance." Especially in the past year, it was one of the most sought-after aesthetics, with many attempting this look on social media. From around 2021 up to now it has been extremely popular. The whole look tries to appear elegant yet minimal. An article, "Fresh Skin Glossy Cheeks and Just Bitten Lips. The clean girl trend isn't going anywhere", states "Celebrity culture is still very much alive, and seeing celebs such as Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber, and Kendall Jenner lean into a fresh, dewy look has also inspired others to take on the trend." It is very interesting to see how this look has influenced so many people.

"LATINA COPY AND PASTE" MAKEUP
"Latina Copy, Paste Makeup" has been another popular makeup look, especially in social media, and for the most part the most popular look I have seen worn. It became popular after the makeup style was influenced by singer and actress, Becky G. A few aspects of the makeup are, Lined lips, big lashes, and matte lipstick. You don't have to be Latina to have this look. It has become so popular, that many different races have posted them trying the look on social media. It has captured the attention of many people. Personally, for me I think is the most popular makeup style, considering how popular it is in school. I´ve tried it only a few times before, but I would recommend it. You can watch many tutorials on social media that will teach you how to do this makeup style. It is a beautiful look!
GRUNGE MAKEUP
This makeup look is eye-catching, and I would say very expressive. It´s been popular for many years, especially in the 90´s but to this day, you can still catch someone in real life, and on any social media platform having the look. The article "Grunge Makeup is Back: Here´s how to make the 90´s trend work second Time Around", gives much insight into this. It states "Peaking in the '90s, 'grunge make-up is defined by smudged eyeliner, matte skin, heavy mascara, and dark lips - with modern formulas, these trends are easier to recreate than ever." However, you don't need to go all out on this look. You can create a soft grunge makeup look. This consists of maybe just focusing on applying eye makeup and focusing on the lips. Grunge makeup is a very popular look that anyone should try if they want to experiment with different makeup styles.

It's fascinating to think about the ways people can express themselves through makeup, and how they can influence people as well. There are countless different makeup styles, however, I thought that those three, Clean Girl Makeup, Latina Makeup, and Grunge makeup were worth mentioning, considering their popularity. You can express yourself through these looks, or try something new. There is absolutely no wrong way to do makeup! The point is to be able to express yourself, and I´ve seen many being able to do that through these looks.
TRENDY JEWELRY
Jewelry is another amazing way for people to be able to express themselves. Many different types are trending, especially on social media platforms. Y2K jewelry is a big one to mention, along with minimalistic jewelry, and Coquette Jewelry. The jewelry style often matches its aesthetic, and although I will mention three, there is a variety of different styles that one can style themselves with.

MINIMALISTIC JEWELRY
Minimalistic jewelry has always existed however it is timeless, and considering its popularity it might be nice to talk about it. If you want to have a clean and classy look you should consider wearing your jewelry this way. The article "Everything You Need to Know About Minimalistic Jewelry" states "This understated approach to accessorizing embraces simplicity and clean lines and focuses on craftsmanship and quality materials to make a subtle statement." Usually when someone thinks of minimalistic jewelry pearl earrings, sleek bangles, teardrop earrings, hoops, and chains (for necklaces and bracelets) are worn. It has become very popular when considering the rise of the Clean Girl Aesthetic previously mentioned. Usually brands that make these kinds of jewelry avoid making them "Trend Proof" so that they can continue to be the timeless pieces of jewelry that they were created to be.
COQUETTE JEWELRY
A lot of jewelry (especially on Pinterest) has tried to capture the Coquette Aesthetic. This trend has consisted of a girly feminine look consisting of frilly outfits, pink bows, and a touch of vintage. Now when talking about the jewelry it is very similar to its description. The article, ¨The Ultimate Guide to the Coquette Aesthetic: Everything you need to know¨ explains further on this aesthetic. Common Jewelry is statement necklaces, Chokers usually with a pendant, anything with pearls ( usually anything vintage inspires), etc. Although any color can fit into the aesthetic light pink, white, and cherry red are common themes. You can try to look for these kinds of attributes when looking for any coquette jewelry.

Y2K JEWELRY
Y2K is another very cool jewelry style. First, we have to understand what the Y2K aesthetic is. According to the website, "The turn of the millennium saw design trends move away from the grunge and grit from the '90s, instead favoring bright, obnoxious colors, kitsch textures such as plastic, metallics, and faux fur, and bling as far as the eye could see." Recently on social media, it has become really popular again. This kind of jewelry ruled the 2000´s, with its bold creative aspect. think this is one of the coolest aesthetics, as the jewelry and everything about it just screams nostalgia. It is something you should try.
It is pretty cool to see how people can express who they are in what they wear and can do that, especially with their jewelry. Minimalistic jewelry, Coquette, and Y2K jewelry have been extremely popular all around the internet and have influenced many people. However, there are countless jewelry styles you can find online. At the end of the day however jewelry is just jewelry and you don't have to fit into any type of aesthetic, however, it is cool to see how people demonstrate who they are through it.
TRENDY HAIRSTYLES
Every year, there tends to be a popular hairstyle that gains recognition. This hairstyle may change yearly or remain the same for a couple of years. In the 1920s, the most fashionable hairstyle was The Bob, in the 1930s it was Glamorous Waves, in the 1940s it was Pin-up, in the 1950s it was Elegant Curls, in the 1960s there were numerous trending hairstyles, in the 1970s it was afros, in the 1980s it was the Mullet, and in the 1990s it was The Rachel. For now, let's discuss the trendiest hairstyles in 2024. The top three trendy hairstyles this year are the Goddess Braids, Butterfly Haircut, and U-cut.

GODDESS BRAIDS
Braids have a rich history that can be traced back 5000 years to African cultures of 3500 BC. They were trendy among women, starting with the Himba people of Namibia. Goddess Braids also have their origins in Ancient Africa and continue to be popular today, especially among celebrities like Rihanna, Ciara, Zoe Kravitz, Kim Kardashian, and more. Goddess braids have a boho look, and their low maintenance makes them perfect for everyday wear. The loose curls add glamour to any look, especially when mixed with box braids. Depending on the size and length of your hair, it can take from four to eight hours to complete the braids.
BUTTERFLY HAIRCUT
The Butterfly haircut was introduced on the internet in 2023 by Sunnie Brooke. The butterfly haircut incorporates cascading layers to add movement and dimension to all hair types, textures, and lengths. The layers of the hairstyle are cut in a way that frames the face and highlights the features, while longer layers are added to create the illusion of length. Some girls who go to the hair salon ask for the Butterfly haircut, but hairstylists may be confused because it's not commonly known by that name.

U-CUT
The U-shaped haircut is a subtle variation of what you'd expect. OMBRE, SHORT, AND SQUARED NAILS

During World War II, almond-shaped nails gained popularity due to nail polish campaigns promoting women in the armed forces. Even today, round almond nails are still popular and give a cute look to nails. Almond nails have a distinct shape that involves filing along the sides and tapering the nail wall to end in a round peak, similar to the shape of an actual almond. However, natural nails may not be strong enough to hold this structure on their own, so most almond manicures are reinforced with gel or acrylic. Almond nails add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any manicure and are perfect for those who want a fierce look without resorting to talon-like points.

These nails look natural with a white tip and can be paired with any color. The pink base and white tip style is a well-known nail art that has gained immense popularity. It is not restricted to any particular season and is particularly useful for individuals with fast nail regrowth. This style is very adaptable and can be customized to any shape or length. It is versatile enough to complement both chic and sporty outfits. There are various French nail styles, including Micro French, Vanilla, Milky, Double French, and Chevron.
TRENDY OUTFITS
Styling your outfits is one of the many ways people express themselves. During 2023 there were so many trendy styles and just clothing in general. Some popular styles were Y2K and streetwear. Much popular clothing, in general, were low-rise jeans, baggy tees/pants, and micro/mini skirts. There were many trendy shoes like Adidas sambas, Uggs, Mary Janes, and the MSCHF big red boots.
MSCHF BIG RED BOOTS
There were some questionable outfit choices in 2023 but that doesn't mean they're unpopular. Let's start with the MSCHF big red boots. You might think “There's no way those were trendy” but when they were released they were sold out in seconds and many were bought by celebrities. The MSCHF brand makes many styles of clothing but it is usually to make a statement, for the big red boots seem to be inspired by the Mario Movie. “Cartoonishness is an abstraction that frees us from the constraints of reality” was the statement they wanted to engrave with these shoes. The MSCHF big red boots retailed for about $350.

Y2K
With Gen Z’s and millennials' love for nostalgia, the Y2K style brought a comeback in 2023. Low-rise jeans, mini skirts, and Uggs were all over TikTok. It felt like people were trying to bring back the 2000s. Just by scrolling through especially the style. “A skirt should be as tiny as a belt” some may say. The Y2K style blew back up when it seemed that Gen Z and millennials wanted to go back to the past and relive their best moments or eras as some may say.
BAGGY
S8/streetwear was popular with baggy pants, baggy tees, Adidas sambas, and jorts. With many things trendy in 2023 the baggy style hit the spotlight. Baggy jeans were popular amongst rappers and skaters in the early 90s but it became mainstream when celebrities started to favor the look. Many people wear clothes on the baggy side because it's more comfortable or because it covers their body's silhouette.

MARY JANES
Mary Janes. Near the beginning of 2023, you saw a lot of Mary Janes. Mary Janes are shoes (usually heels) made by the brand Doc Martens. With the release of the Barbie movie, many people are celebrating ‘girlhood’ which influenced more people with Mary Jane. The great parts and the more difficult parts of ‘girlhood’ Mary Janes embodies the idea that something or someone seems perfect, but under it is more complicated. Mary Janes is known for their elevated option for the arch and options for those who like the ballet flat feel.

Bags are always trending in the fashion industry. In 2023 some of Vogue's must-haves were the Gucci horse-bit chain small shoulder bag and the Coperni Mini swipe bag. Let's start with the vintage-inspired bags. 2023 brought back so many things from the past. 2023 was the year of nostalgia in fashion. During 2023 there was a trend called ‘a pop of red’. Adding a red-colored item to your outfit was the thing. Many wore red lips, shoes, and scarves, but others wore red bags.
