CCSD suggests for students to attend class on a weekly basis, K-5 have daily sessions and 6-12 have 3 weekly sessions. The Google Meet links should be on the teachers home page and up to date. Students are expected to complete an attendance task for each synchronous session the student has for that week. Your student will need to complete one of the following as the attendance task for the class: a graded assignment, 2-way communication between student and teacher based on progress in the course or attend a synchronous session. Attendance will be submitted by the teacher on the following Monday. Students who have 10 or more absences may result in loss of credit for the class. Any extenuating circumstance should be brought up to the office staff as soon as possible for corrections.
Parent engagement in their student's learning process is a vital part of increasing their own students engagement (Kipp and Rice, 2020). This is why we are encouraging parents to be involved in their students education by being up to date on their student's performance. Educators are sending out weekly update emails that will detail your students progress. Use this information to have conversations with your student on how they feel about school and how could they improve or keep on the right track. Be sure to look at your students school pages to find out what is happening at the school level or how you can get involved and help out at their next event.
Here at CCSD we want complete transparency of what is happening in all classrooms and how your student is doing. We are trying to accomplish this through consistent weekly communication of your students grades and providing contact information on each of your students classroom pages and the schools website as well. Take advantage of these avenues to communicate with the teacher, counselors or office staff about your questions or concerns to help us create the best learning environment for your student. Please make sure you are using these preferred methods of contact for the teacher or staff member so we are respecting everyone's boundaries and we can have safe and productive communication about the student.
