Usually the digital curriculum is set up like a textbook where content is typically laid out in units of study. This familiar setup is helpful when planning a blended lesson using CIA:
Big Picture Planning
In general it is helpful to try to look at the big picture before planning individual items. One of the ways you can look at the big picture is by reviewing your digital curriculum to creating a unit plan or unit overview before you begin working on your daily lesson plans. This way, you can be sure that you are addressing the components of CIA. Click on the Big Picture Planning icon to view a template that you can use to help build your unit overview, as well as sample unit plans.
Lesson planning should begin with the digital content, which are at depth of knowledge (DOK) levels one and two. The next step in planning would be how the teacher can guide instruction into levels three and four. Dependent on the model that you choose, template lesson plans are also available. Click on the Daily Planning icon to view a variety of lesson plan templates that you can use to plan your daily lessons.
Student Activities Planning
While unit and lesson planning may be required by your administrator, it is also important to plan the individual activities that are part of your lesson. You may wish to consider using recipe cards, playlists, menus, or choice boards to help differentiate instruction as well as to provide the students with choices in the activities that they complete.
