Designing a classroom that embraces the CIA of BlendED could include various blended learning models. Some teachers may wish to implement a single model regularly while others may choose to use different models in different situations to suit the needs of the school and of the students.
There are many ways to establish a Blended education, or " BlendED" for short, learning classroom. The models will vary, but all models will have a balanced approach to the three CIA components of BlendED:
Using a rotation model is an easy transition into BlendED. Rotation models maintain the class day, period schedule with little adjustments to traditional classroom instruction, and there are several rotation models that you may wish to try. Click the rotation models icon to learn more.
When time and calendar are taken out of the equation, student learning can be fluid. The Flex blended learning model is often used at the secondary level when students become more mature and have the skills to manage their time and seek assistance when needed. There has been much buzz about flipping the classroom. This model reverses the typical classroom lecture and homework elements. Digital content can be used by students at home (or before/after school open labs) prior to the class session. This allows for the physical class time to be devoted to practice, projects, and discussions. Click the flipped classroom model icon to learn more.
