The mission of the Clark County School District (CCSD) and Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) partnership is to support schools where students of all abilities are respected, valued, and empowered, fostering a culture of unity and acceptance.
To enhance inclusive school environments that promote a culture of equity, inclusion, and respect among students of all abilities, equipping students to carry these principles throughout their lives and into their communities.
Unified Champion Schools (UCS) is a districtwide partnership between CCSD and SONV. The UCS program is an education and sports-based strategy powered by an engaged youth community that aims to increase athletic and leadership opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities while creating communities of acceptance for all.
Unified Sports is a program in which people with intellectual disabilities (athletes) and those without (partners) train and compete together on sports teams.
Students with and without intellectual disabilities work together to lead and plan advocacy, awareness, and other Special Olympics and related inclusive activities throughout the school year.
Whole School Engagement incorporates awareness and education activities that promote inclusion, reach the entire school, and align with the Unified Champion School mission.
