Tokyo is an amazing city year-round with Cherry Blossoms in the Spring, snow in the Winter, and long sunny days in the Summer. There are endless possibilities for visitors whether you love history, anime, or nature there will certainly be something for you to do. Tokyo has tons of things to busy yourself with in the month of August, we have included some of our suggestions:
Explore historic Asakusa and its ancient temple Sensō-ji
Visit Tokyo Tower, you can take an elevator up to the top or if you are feeling adventurous you can climb the 600-step staircase
Visit the statue of Hachikō, a famous Japanese Akita Dog who was known for his loyalty to his deceased owner.
Take a look at the Tsukiji Fish Market. Try some super fresh Sushi while you're there!
If you spent any part of your childhood playing Pokemon head over to the Pokemon Mega Center for merch, food, and games.
Visit one of Tokyo’s many museums. Choose between Mori Art Museum, Nezu Museum, Ghibli Museum and so many more.
Those interested in history can visit the Yasukuni Shrine which commemorates anyone who had died in service of the Empire of Japan during WWII.
Make a day trip to visit Disneyland on August 5. 1-hour train ride from your hotel.
Relax at Oi Central Park. Only a 5-minute walk from the hotel!
Walk around Shinjuku, one of Tokyo’s largest shopping and entertainment districts.

The Garden Cafe and Bar - right next door to your hotel, The Garden is a great place to stop by in the morning to get coffee and a pastry or in the evening to get a drink after a long day. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert at this cafe at different times throughout the day making it a versatile spot for all your food and beverage needs.
Migpig Cafe Meguro - Is this cafe close to the hotel or to campus? No. But it is a must visit nonetheless. Migpig Cafe is an artsy cafe with a twist, you can come to enjoy a pastry and a cup of tea, while also being surrounded by little pigs that you can pet, play with or just look at. Theres no other experience quite like it so it is a must try when you have the opportunity.
Starbucks - if you’ve just left to hotel and youre about to hop on the train toward campus, Starbucks is practically on your way. It’s convenient and consistent. A matcha latte from Starbucks before a busy day is never a bad idea.
Cafe Haru Haru - This quaint cafe is right off of campus with selections of coffee, tea and plenty of food. Most notably they offer a breakfast cheese fondue that is a must try. While sitting down to enjoy the menu is a great option they also offer most things to go for easy grab and go.
Seattle Express - an on campus coffee shop that will be very convenient throughout the week when youre suddenly craving a cup of coffee. Located on the first floor of Taki Plaza this cafe offers everything from café lattes and cappuccinos to home-made pizzas and panini at reasonable prices.
Fishing Restaurant ZAUO Meguro - This restaurant isnt for the faint hearted, but if you love your fish this is certainly a interesting place to experience. There is a large pond in the restaurant where guests can fish to catch their meals. Once you’ve caught something they prepare it any way you would like.
Canal Brewing - A beer hall right down the road from the hotel, Canal Brewing offers a variety of craft beers. The founder personally chosen every craft beer that is sold in this hall. If you are looking for a cold beer, this is the place to be.
Kura Sushi - Conveyer belt sushi has become a popular dining experience worldwide, but what better place try it then the birthplace of sushi. Kura sushi, a chain in Japan, offers a delicious and fun dining experience with their revolving sushi bar.
TY Harbor - a restaurant on the harbor. The founder converted his grandfathers old waterfront warehouse into a restaurant and business has been booming ever since. The restaurant provides a variety of American style cuisine, along with coffee, tea and drinks.
Uncle Rob - have you ever found yourself watching videos on social media of those obscenely fluffy pancakes? Well now its your time to shine because this breakfast nook has exactly that. Their slogan is “pancakes that make your body happy” and if that doesnt sound promising I dont know what does.
