Naresuan University Institutional Review Board (NU-IRB) was established in 2003 and Associate Professor Dr. Monthon Sanguansermsri was the first of Nu-IRB Chair. The committee were faculties and experts from outside the university.
The protection of human research subjects at Naresuan University is a shared responsibility, with the institution, researchers, IRB committees, and the IRB Office working together toward this common goal.
NU IRB has members from a variety of disciplines and interests, including medical and health sciences, humanities and social sciences, science and technology, molecular biology, and non-scientists from fields such as laws and education.
NU-IRB has 3 panels including
Panel 1: Health Sciences (สาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ)
Panel 2: Technology Sciences and Social Sciences and Humanities (สาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์เทคโนโลยี และมนุษยศาสตร์สังคมศาสตร์)
Panel 3: Medical Sciences (สาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์ทางการแพทย์)
Each panel have scheduled meeting at least monthly, generally on the third week of each month.
NU-IRB members serve for four years for the IRB chair and all members. The IRB chairs and vice-chairs collectively form the IRE Executive Committee. This committee meets occasionally to discuss matters of common interest to the IRBs, to refine policy and practice, and to strive for reasonable consistency across the IRBs.
The Institutional Review Board Office accepts nominations and applications for faculty, staff, and community member service on our Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).
There are three IRB panels (Panels 1, 2, 3) and one NU-RREC IRB panel. Members are appointed for four-year terms and all panels meet at least once per month throughout the year. The IRB Office provides initial training and ongoing education to all members.
The Naresuan University IRB panels are, by law and mission, diverse with respect to scientific and nonscientific interests, sex, race, ethnicity, and affiliation with Naresuan University. Members bring varying opinions from their respective backgrounds to decide how best to safeguard the rights and welfare of human subjects in research. Decisions are made through majority rule votes by a quorum of members.
