Landing Pages

What - Why - How

A landing page is one location where families can go to access classroom information- such as teacher email, schedule, and links to lessons- quickly & easily. Here are some examples:

Use images that are free, public domain, or for which you have the rights.

Student Identifying Information

  • When creating landing pages, follow NSSEO's Social Media Policy.

  • Keep public landing pages free from student names, photos with names, ID#s, Zoom links, login information, location, etc. - this information can be shared with the student/family privately via a Seesaw, Google Classroom, or links on your Google Site or Slides that can only be opened by families.

Links and Sharing

  • To create links to your schedules or activities within Seesaw, Tap the green Plus sign and Post, Upload the schedule(s), share the post with students, then tap the three dots by the post for the share link, and copy/paste the link into your landing page. Students must sign into Seesaw to view these, even if posted on a public page.

  • To create share links to activities in Google Drive, right click an item in your drive, choose Share, choose the share setting: Anyone with the link can View, then copy/paste the link nto your landing page. NOTE: these links are open to anyone, so if you need private links, enter family email in the share settings, then copy the link and share.

Publishing

  • There are specific ways to publish landing pages so they operate as intended and keep student information private at the same time.

  • Please reference the publishing section below for the type of landing page you will create: Google Sites, Slides, or Docs.

Keep It Simple & Structured

  • There are a variety of tools you can use to create a landing page: Google Sites, Slides, or Docs, to name a few.

  • Start with one with which you are comfortable, you can always expand later, and remember KISS - Keep It Simple & Structured.

Public Landing Page Do's & Don'ts

Publishing

  • If all your parents have Gmail accounts, keep the public site Restricted, add their email, and make them a Published Viewer.

  • If parents do not have Gmail accounts, set your site to Public and make sure links can only be opened by students/families via Seesaw or Google Classroom.

Google Slides - Bitmoji Classrooms

Publishing

PDF

  • If you created a single slide with links to outside resources such as email, websites that require a password, etc, and no links to slides within your slide deck - share with families as a PDF (File/Download as PDF)

  • Links can be shared via email or uploaded to SeeSaw for access. NOTE: within Seesaw, students will need to click on View Original for links within Google Slides to remain active.

Published to web

  • If you created a slide deck with multiple "pages or slides" linked to other slides, go to File/Publish to the web, then copy/paste the link into SeeSaw or email to families.

Google Docs

Publishing Google Docs

  • Share your Google Doc as a PDF (File/Download as PDF) and upload the PDF to Seesaw for access.

  • NOTE: within Seesaw, students will need to click on View Original for links to remain active.
