Welcome to 017 Science/SS (2021-2022)

Welcome to Mr. Healy's classroom!

Mr. Healy- Science /Health and Social Studies

The Science and Social Studies classes will be taught in 80 min blocks. We will be implementing an inquiry based learning approach. Teacher demonstrations, labs, activities, and whole group learning will be utilized to gain mastery of the concepts. We will also cover the concepts through assigned readings, short answered packets, videos and short assessments. All assignments will be posted in the Science/Social Studies Google Classroom. Grades will be posted each week on School Tools.

Absent Students: The assignments and any assessments will be posted on my Google Classroom page.

All Graded Assignments will be posted on the grading portal each week. I grade on a scale from 100-50. (No zeros will be given.) If you see a grade of "50%," more than likely that assignment is incomplete, not done to class standards, or missing altogether. Work that is incomplete or not up to class standards will be "returned" to students and should be completed/ submitted back to me. Parents/guardians should check Google Classroom/ School Tools regularly to make sure their child in staying up to date on their work.

Social Studies -B/D Days (80 minutes)

SS pacing guide

Science and Social Studies will be taught every other day (80 minute block.) Science are A/C days and B/D are SS days. The assignments given on that particular day are not due (unless otherwise noted) until the next class the students have science/ss. For instance, a science assignment assigned on Monday, will not be due until Wednesday. A SS assignment assigned on Tuesday, would not be due until Thursday. The daily assignments will be posted each morning so the students know only to bring materials for that particular subject on that day!

I will be using my Science/Social Studies Google Classrooms to communicate assignments. (The students have already signed up for their block!)

*If students have trouble submitting work in Google Classroom (although we've gone over ways to trouble shoot) scanning or taking a screenshot of the assignment (then emailing it to me) is an option.

The below link will help you scan assignments to your phone so you can e-mail them to me or attach them to the google classroom.
