String Instruments: violin, viola, cello, bass
Band Instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion
Please deliver the instrument (CLEARLY labeled with your name and homeroom) and 5 binder tabs (for Band only) to school no later than Friday, September 11th. This will enable us to get it set up and ready to go for your first lesson! (Your music stand should stay at home.)
Hand-me-down instruments can be wonderful options, but many that have sat unplayed could use a little help to make them workable for your child. We're happy to check them out!
If you are considering purchasing an instrument PLEASE let us be involved. We want to set your child up for success!
Make sure you check the instrument requirements list above for the additional materials needed.
Before you buy an instrument, PLEASE reach out to us. We cannot stress this enough!
In recent years, we've found that many students' instruments purchased from Amazon, Costco, Facebook, etc., are not of a quality that allows beginners to start their instruments successfully. What seems like a deal may cost you more in the long run as these instruments may use non-standard parts, be less durable, or not be fully playable without first being handled by a professional luthier or repair technician. Though we really believe renting is the best option for new instrumentalists, we are willing to work with you to help you find something that both fits your budget and sets your child up for success.
Please also consider that with string instruments, most players will need to move up sizes as they grow. Size exchanges are included in rentals, whereas purchasing may cause you to buy multiple instruments over your child's playing experience.
Deadline to order: Thursday, September 10th
When you order, please choose school delivery. This will enable us to get it set up and ready to go for your first lesson!
*Remember: this is rent-to-own; repairs can be included; check the instrument requirements list above to make sure you have all the needed supplies (check out "Instrument Requirements" above).
If your child is a beginning string player, please use this link to help you determine which size instrument your child needs. http://johnsonstring.com/rental/sizing.htm
