Community Council Minutes

October 15, 2019

Meeting Attended by: Allynne Mower, Kay D Quinn, Trine Huntington, Kristin Grasteit, Heidi Williams, and Randy Shelley.

Calendar for future Meetings- Third Wednesday of every month at 2:45 pm.

Election of chairman, secretary- Trine was voted in as chairman with 5 of 5 votes. Kristin was voted in as co-chairman all in favor. Heidi was voted in as the secretary all in favor.

Training- Allynne gave a copy of the parent member “responsibilities of school community council”, and “rules of order and procedure” to each of the council members to train them on what they will be doing this year in community council.

Review of Parent Engagement Policy- Allynne passed out the Parent Engagement policy and members reviewed it. Randy Shelley presented Parent Engagement Policy for the district and asked for feedback to improve. It was discussed that a district community council would be nice to have to get information and provide feedback as a district, not just the school.

Review school land trust plan- 2019-2020- Allynne gave a copy of the school land trust plan for 2019/2020 so the council could see the goals and how the money is being used for the year.

State core test results- RISE- Results were shown by Allynne. Fairview is performing higher than the state average. Randy Shelley noted that it is very difficult to gain a couple of percent, but Fairview is gaining more than average. He complimented the school on their success.

Title 1- DIBELS results- Allynne showed the council the DIBELS scores as of right now, and it looks like the school is doing about the same as the state average as a whole.

PTA Report- Trine reported that the PTA was providing dinner for the teachers during Parent Teachers Conferences. They are also working on finding volunteers for the Book Fair and the Fall Carnival. Both are very big events. She wondered if the PTA should look into purchasing their own bounce house instead of renting one for Fun Day at the end of the school year. Pros would be we would be the owners. Cons are finding a place to store it. Also, will it be heavy duty?

Community Concerns- No concerns were brought to the meeting.

Meeting was motioned to adjourn by Trine Huntington and seconded by Heidi Williams. All were in favor.

Next meeting will be : November 20, 2:45 pm
