The annual State of North Ridgeville was held at North Ridgeville City Schools’ Academic Center on February 25th, featuring the theme of “Breaking Ground.” This joint presentation between the city and school district provided residents with comprehensive updates on key projects within the community. Notably, it included updates on the new high school, which is breaking ground later this year.
Mayor Kevin Corcoran and Superintendent Roxann Ramsey-Caserio emphasized their collaborative and individual efforts as they provide services within the vibrant community.
Superintendent Ramsey-Caserio commented, “The theme tonight is 'breaking ground, and I think that truly captures some of the exciting developments and transformative growth that we see happening around us each and every day.” She detailed the intricate phasing plan for the high school project and outlined the strategic approach to minimize disruption during construction. The new 340,000 SF 9-12 school represents a major milestone for the district as they continue to modernize their facilities and fulfill goals set in the November 2023 ballot to provide safety, space, and opportunities for educational excellence for their students.
The new high school features a state-of-the-art 1,610-seat auditorium, designed to host a wide range of community and school events, along with a new competition gymnasium and natatorium which will enhance the athletic opportunities for students.
Beyond the high school, the State of the City addressed a variety of infrastructure improvements across North Ridgeville. These projects ranged from road enhancements to park developments and reflect the city’s ongoing investment in its future.
"The theme 'Breaking Ground' symbolizes not only the physical construction taking place, but also the spirit moving our community forward," stated Mayor Corcoran, highlighting the efforts between the city and school district.
The event served as a platform to allow residents to gain firsthand insight into the projects shaping North Ridgeville’s landscape and engage with a variety of city and school employees. The district encourages families to follow the school website and social media for continued updates on the new high school construction and other district-related news.
As the design process continues, architects and construction professionals will work through plans, ensuring the project progresses on time and on budget. A groundbreaking for the new transportation and maintenance center is scheduled for April 1st, and a formal groundbreaking for the new high school is scheduled for August 15th.
