In this intermediate class, students will learn the history of photography, major photography movements and how societal issues created these movements. Students will engage in conversation around the ethics of photography (when they should and shouldn't document events,places, and people) and about major photographers that have made an impact on the field.
Students will also learn about different styles of photography and careers within those photography styles.
Students will learn about the digital equiopment they will use and will learn and work in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom.
The first few weeks students will learn how to use digital cameras, will begin learning basic Photoshop/Lightroom skills, and start learning about how to capture the perfect picture.
Students will then start working through different styles of photography, working with different kinds of lighting, posing, and learning different styles of composition within a photograph
Students will continue to learn about the history of art, well-known photographers in histyr, and different styles of photography.
Students will begin to put together a portfolio of images they have taken within the different styles presented in class.
Students will also work on a photographers statement to be included in their portfolio.
The portfolio that students put together in class will count as their final.
