In Ceramics students will expand on the basic knowledge learned in Intro 3D Art. They will complete 7 projects and a portfolio in this class. The course will start with a focus on the basic building technique of pinch, coil, and slab. This will provide a foundation for students to understand how to work with clay and learn the limitations of the material. We will also cover glazing techniques and alternate firing techniques.
In the second quarter of the class, we will expand into sculpting, decorative techniques, and student-choice projects. To finish out the semester they will create a personal portfolio of their work. The portfolio will be digital and include images of their works with a description, and an artist statement about their works.
The prerequisite for this class is Intro 3D Art.
