Italian I is an introductory course which emphasizes the four basic skills of listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing through a proficiency-oriented approach. The World Language courses use ACTFL can-do statements as guiding indicators for students’ progress within the curriculum sequence. By the end of this course students will be able to communicate basic information about themselves, their everyday life, and people they know by using familiar phrases and memorized chunks of vocabulary. They will also be able to ask/answer simple questions in the present tense. Students will be able to understand basic statements and questions on familiar topics as well as the main topic of what they read and conversations they overhear.
