French III builds on the foundations of the first and second year programs by deepening students’ ability to communicate in meaningful ways. This course emphasizes oral and written expression, grammar, reading comprehension, and discussion, giving students opportunities to express themselves more clearly and with greater sophistication. By the end of this level, students will be able to participate in conversations about daily life, ask and answer more complex questions, describe people, places, and routines, and communicate using present, past, and basic future time frames, and comprehend the main ideas and key details of spoken and written texts on familiar topics.
