AP Spanish is a full-year course designed to provide advanced and highly motivated students the opportunity to continue the development of the four language skill areas. The course is organized to adhere to the College Board Advanced Placement Language Program guidelines for Spanish language study and focuses on refining the use of grammatical structure in communicative settings and on developing reading and writing skills using authentic materials such as short stories, newspaper and magazine articles, television and radio clips, movies, videos and Internet resources. By the end of this level, students will be able to participate in spontaneous exchanges related to familiar and researched topics, and communicate effectively across various time frames. They will understand the main idea and key information in various time frames as well as the flow of events expressed in conversations they overhear and texts they read.   Students may earn college credit through the University of Connecticut and/or advanced placement credit for successful completion of the course, depending on the requirements of the individual college the student may attend and the score on the Advanced Placement examination.
