AP/ECE Spanish is a full-year course designed for students who wish to continue developing their skills in speaking, reading, writing, and listening. This course emphasizes refining grammatical structures in communicative contexts and developing reading and writing skills through authentic materials such as short stories, newspaper and magazine articles, television and radio clips, movies, videos, and Internet resources. By the end of the course, students can participate in spontaneous exchanges on familiar and researched topics, communicate effectively across multiple time frames, and comprehend the main ideas, key details, and flow of events in both spoken and written texts. Students may earn six college credits through the University of Connecticut Fall SPAN 3178 and Spring SPAN 3179 courses and/or advanced placement credit upon successful completion, depending on individual college requirements and the score on the Advanced Placement examination.
