The United States history course chronologically surveys American history from 1877 to the present. Thematic units include Industrialization, Imperialism, Progressivism, The Great Depression and World War II, the Cold War and Modern America. Emphasis is placed on understanding the relationship between events in modern American history and contemporary issues. The honors section provides learning opportunities for students to develop the skills at a more rigorous and reflective level. Students are empowered to perform at higher levels as they engage in analyzing historical documents and supplementary readings in order to develop nuanced arguments and understandings about the past.
