If cadets are interested in applying for ROTC scholarships they will have to take a PT test. This test will be given during the beginning of their senior year. Cadets should start training for the PT test no later than the spring of their junior year. Cadets should research service specific PT standards. As a general guideline a cadet should be able to score a 90+ on the under 30 USAF standards. See linked PDF above. Males should be able to, at a minimum, run 1.5 miles at an 8 min mile pace (12 min for 1.5 miles), do 57+ push ups in a minute and 52+ situps in a minute. Females should be able to, at a minimum, run 1.5 miles at an 9 min 30 sec pace (14 min 15 sec for 1.5 miles), do 37+ push ups in a minute and 49+ situps in a minute. Cadets should strive to max their score on as many components as possible.
If a cadet is considering enlisting they should research service specific PT standards. For the USAF standards refer to the PDF linked above. For the USAF if an individual can score a 90+ they will have an easier time in basic training. See previous bullet for suggested scores.
This is a link where you can enter your academy PT test scores to see how you are doing. This calculator isn't 100% correct and should not be used as a definitive assessment of your scores. However, it does give you a good idea of where you are, and where you might need to go.
