How we celebrate reading

Reading is an enjoyable activity for most, but we still need to recognise the time and effort put into completing a novel. For that reason, we are dedicated to rewarding students who read throughout the year.

The English department works with students to discuss and record the books they have read.

When a student reads a certain number of books, they are nominated for an award by their English Teacher, which is presented to them in assembly.

We feel strongly that completing a novel is a success, and to do this consistently across the year should be recognised and celebrated.

The awards are as follows for across the year:

Bronze: 1 novel

Silver: 2 novels

Gold: 3 novels

Platinum: 5 novels

Unobtainium: 10 novels

Our ambition is that everyone achieves a bronze award each year, and that our top 100 readers in each year group achieve a Gold award.
