The Reading Gift List

It is vital that Parents, Carers and Teachers collaborate on encouraging children to read, and read widely!

One initiative we are running is to ensure that students are guided towards novels and non-fiction which is engaging and challenging, and that we support teachers, parents and carers in doing this.

At school, we are discussing book choices with students as part of the reading lesson in English. As Reading is also a homework monitored by English Teachers, we are also using it as a time to ensure students are reading widely.

To help parents and carers, we have put together two lists to support you in guiding your child.

The Reading Challenge checklist

This is a list of age-appropriate books which we recommend your child to read. It covers a range of classics

The library monthly recommendations

Each month, the library sends home a newsletter which includes the latest  book recommendations. These are much more modern, with some recently published novels suggested. These are books which would make ideal choices for birthdays, Christmas, or any other celebration where you can give a book as a gift!
