Why 1:1?

We launched the 1:1 Program in the 2019-2020 school year. This decision came on the heels of years of careful consideration and research within the 1:1 Task Force and Educational Technology Committee (groups that consist of teachers, administrators and support faculty), and followed the unveiling of the 2018 Strategic Framework. The Strategic Framework laid out the vision of our technology integration model which strives to empower all students, to foster their creativity, and to build their capacity for complex problem-solving. Our 1:1 program will support our implementation of the framework, and has some distinct goals.

Goals of the Program

Increase access, differentiation, and collaboration. We want all students to have the tools they need to fully engage in our program at school and at home.

Support the integration of technology into all learning disciplines. We want to provide a robust experience with technology tools for all students, especially students from underrepresented groups and those who do not see themselves as proficient users of technology.

Use tech to facilitate deep, long-term learning. We want students to use technology as an instrument within their courses to assist in developing their content knowledge and academic skills. Through support and instructional guidance, we ultimately want to see students apply their new understandings from the classroom to make a positive impact beyond the classroom.

We have adopted Canvas as our learning management system. Learn more about it, including how be pair parents with students, here.
