The Mathematics Department at Northville High School strives to provide challenging learning experiences which encourage students to think, develop in-depth understandings of a rigorous secondary mathematics curriculum, and apply academic learning to be college and career ready. As students’ progress through the math program at Northville High School, they will solve challenging problems which require careful analysis, deep contextual understanding and sophisticated reasoning. Engage in meaningful and intense discourse and collaboration. Read technical text, verbalize thinking, form arguments and evaluate the arguments of others. Focus on how to learn as well as the content that needs to be learned. Explore vocabulary and mathematical concepts through guided lessons, interactive technology and math software. Communicate and collaborate during partner assignments and activities. Seek actively and independently resources for additional learning and self-assessment. Develop rich questions to engage others in extended learning.
