Costume Kits: Include costume & headpieces/accessories (Tights and shoes are not included).
Costume Fitting and Care:
Dancers will try on costumes during class.
Take costumes home, label them, and steam to remove wrinkles.
Hang costumes and store with accessories in labeled garment bag.
Ballet tights are specially designed to be worn on their own and perform the same hygienic function as underwear, similar to a swimsuit. If you must wear undergarments in addition to tights, they must be skin-toned and snug-fit to avoid being visible.
Traditional underwear is typically not worn under dance costumes, as tights fulfill both hygienic and modesty purposes. In the case that your female dancer needs to wear underwear, they must match their skin tone and should not be visible beneath the costume. Boys are typically expected to wear a dance belt as their foundational layer underneath their costumes and/or ballet tights. Undergarments/modesty liners can be purchased at dancewear providers of your choice.
Costumes must ONLY be worn for Class Photos, special In-Studio Rehearsals, Dress Rehearsal and Performance. They should NOT be worn for dress-up or play.
There will be no spare costumes on hand, and another may not be available in time if lost or damaged.
Damaged or lost costumes may result in your child not being able to perform, and no refunds will be given.
Shoes and Tights
All required shoes and tights can be purchased HERE.
Girls must wear tights in the studio-approved color.
Shoes and tights are not included in the costume kit. Families must ensure dancers have the correct style and that items are in good condition with no holes or stains.
Dancers may wear tights they already own for Dress Rehearsal and Performance as long as there are no holes or stains. Because tights are prone to snags and runs, ordering a fresh pair of tights is recommended to ensure dancers look and feel their best.
Hair
Dancers must wear a slicked ballet bun with gel and/or hairspray (click here or see below for instructions).
Backstage staff may apply hairspray or other products if a dancer’s hair is not performance-ready.
Additional requirements for each dance will be outlined on these Class Info sheets.
Hair MUST be fixed and professional for Dress Rehearsal, as professional photos will be taken.
Makeup
Because stage lighting and costumes wash out facial features, both boys and girls must wear makeup so that expressions are visible to the audience.
Makeup must also be worn for Dress Rehearsal so staff can check the application and make adjustments for the Recital.
Boys: pink blush, natural pink lipstick.
Girls:
1st Dance, Mini Movers, Fundamentals
Pink or peach blush, pink lipstick, mascara (if tolerated).
Level 1
Pink blush, earth-tone eye shadow, black mascara, pink or red lipstick.

Foundation: one shade darker than natural skin tone, blended under the chin to the neck.
Pink blush.
Earth-tone eye shadow.
Black eyeliner and brown liner.
Black false eyelashes (medium volume/length).
Dark pink or red lipstick with matching lip liner.
Pro Tip: Before applying mascara, dust a thin layer of translucent powder or setting spray over the face (allow to dry completely). This helps makeup stay in place and reduces touch-ups. Apply mascara and false eyelashes last.
