Course selection for a student's program at Northport High School requires input from the student, teachers, counselors, and parents. Teachers of record make course recommendations for their students based on discussions, ability, and past performance. These recommendations drive student schedule choices for the next school year. The timeline for course selection is as follows:
Week of December 2nd – Elective Presentation during school for current 9th graders
Week of December 8th – Course Requests/Recommendations for 26-27 in Science, Math, PE, English, Social Studies, World Language
December 12th – Official Homeroom for grades 9-11 for the purpose of entering elective course requests
Week of December 15th - Counselors will review requests and meet with current 9th graders
January - Counselors will review requests and meet with current 10th and 11th graders
Course selection for entering ninth graders takes place at the middle school.
