Northport High School Course Selection
(Updated 12/23)
(Updated 12/23)
Course selection for a student's program at Northport High School requires input from the student, teachers, counselors, parents and academic chair people. Teachers of record make course recommendations for their students based on discussions, ability, and past performance. These recommendations drive student schedule choices for the next school year.
Week of December 4th: Students will meet with teachers to discuss the next sequential courses and recommendations in English, math, social studies, science, and world language.
December 11th-14th: Students in grades 9-11 will learn about and be introduced to elective opportunities.
December 18th: Students in grades 9-11 will attend Official Homeroom to make decisions related to elective courses for 2024-2025. These course requests are NOT final. Choices will be discussed and confirmed with counselors in the next step.
January – April 2023: Students will meet with counselors to discuss course requests, graduation requirements, make changes, and answer questions.
Course selection for entering ninth graders takes place at the middle school.
