WHAT IS THE RUN-A-THON?
The run-a-thon is a 6-hour continuous run. Once one runner stops running another runner takes their place running. The goal is to always have at least one person running for 6 hours.
WHY THE RUN-A-THON?
The run-a-thon is a fundraising event that benefits the Northmont Cross Country program (both middle school and high school). Runners collect donations from family, friends, neighbors, and others in the Northmont community for the miles they run at the run-a-thon (checks payable to T-BOLTS TRACK AND CC CLUB or “TBTCCC”). Donations can be made as a certain dollar amount per mile run or as an overall program donation.
WHERE & WHEN IS THE RUN-A-THON?
The run-a-thon starts at 6:00pm on TBD and ends at 12:00am (midnight) on TBD. It will be held at Northmont High School practice football fields. We will set up camp outside the lightning lounge. The course will be lit at night. Middle School runners will run during the 6:00 - 9:00 time slot, while High School runners will run 9:00 - Midnight. High School athletes will help pickup afterwards, this will take about an hour and should be completed by 1 am.
HOW IS THE RUN-A-THON RUN?
Runners arrive at the Run-A-Thon during their team’s assigned time. Runners collaborate together to make sure at least one runner is always on the course. If a runner can’t come for the whole time frame, that is fine! He/she can complete their run and then leave, if needed. Athletes need to bring their own water (or gatorade, if wanted) to this event. While we usually have parents donate goodies for runners to enjoy in between their runs, that will look different this year. At most, we can have individual pre-packaged foods available (granola bars, individual packs of chips, cookies, etc). Bottled water can be donated as well for runners that run out.
INCENTIVES: TBD
Runners who raise $100 and $200 will earn incentives!
