commissioning scheme

The North Cheshire Wind Orchestra has a strong commitment to commissioning new music. Since 2001, the band have been involved in commissioning a number of new works and one re-orchestration for wind ensemble.

We believe that we should be engaging composers to write new music to be added to the wind ensemble repertoire. This was one of the activities we listed as core to our objectives when we made our application to become a charity. To fund these commissioning projects, the NCWO have set up a scheme which allows those who wish to do so (both current and past band members, friends of the band and the general public) to contribute to a fund set up specifically for the commissioning of new wind music.

The aim of the commissioning scheme is to enable the NCWO to undertake at least one commissioning project each year, either by itself or as part of a wider consortium. We have a dedicated bank account for this scheme for which standing orders can be set up. If you would like to join, please contact us for more details.
