This digital publication is created during a new literacy exploratory called Publishing with Purpose. Every sixth grade student rotates through this six-week course. There will be three issues each school year. Each issue will highlight submissions from two terms. I am very proud of The Trojan Times journalists.
These hard-working eleven and twelve year olds have learned so much. As with any learning journey, there is always room for growth. This is only our second issue. Two of the classes in this issue were in our RLA and the other two classes were on our adaptive pause. I was especially impressed with the collaboration of their story teams as they overcame tech challenges (of being in separate learning spaces/homes) and working diligently in breakout rooms with less access to immediate teacher guidance.
Please understand that you will encounter some tech issues as you enjoy this issue, but overall, I think their enthusiasm and messages shine through!
