Monday, February 3rd

Attention Juniors – The final payment of your Junior package is due this Friday. If you do not pay off your package in full by this Friday, your package will be forfeited without refund. See Ms. G if you have any questions.

Any girls interested in playing soccer for Woodside - JV or Varsity - come to our interest meeting on Tuesday, Feb 4th, in room A204. Meeting will begin at 2:20. If you need an after school pass or if you have any questions, see Mr. Platt in room A204

This year’s Jam is on Feb. 28th at 7:00pm. Live auditions are after school on February 4th in C281. Signups are on Mr. Mata’s door. We will also be accepting video submissions this year. Please send a link to your video submissions to woodsidejam@gmail.com. Remember to include your name and homeroom number. Be sure to follow @woodsidejam on IG for updates. All PAC members that have not RSVP’d for the February 7th meeting must do so no later than 2pm on Tuesday February 4th with Mrs. Giles in the main office. If you RSVP’d for January’s meeting that RSVP has been recognized as a positive response for this upcoming meeting. If you do not RSVP you will not receive a pass for the meeting .

We will go over the process and teams will begin discussing details. We will also meet each Flex Friday in February to help us prepare for this event. See you next Tuesday!

Callback auditions for Disney’s High School Musical are TODAY in the theater! Only those listed on the Callback list are needed. Keep your eyes peeled for the Final Cast List, to be posted by the end of the week. Break a leg at round 2 of auditions!

All permission slips and money for the African American Trip and Howard University are due to Mrs. Davis By Tuesday, February 11th.

Students attending the Warriors field trip need to eat A Lunch on Tuesday and remain in the cafeteria after A lunch for bus departure. Again, if you are attending the Warriors field trip, you need to eat during first lunch on Tuesday.

Here is your black history fact for the day: Did you know? Scientist and Mathematician Benjamin Banneker is credited with helping to design the blueprints for Washington D.C.

There will a Japanese Club meeting this afternoon in C147 at 2:20 for anyone interested in Japanese culture.

There will be a mandatory Model UN meeting for all students attending the ODU conference on Tuesday afternoon in A107.

You must get an athletic after-school pass from Coach Macklin in order to stay after school for tryouts. In addition, you must have a VHSL physical on file in order to participate. Once again, you must have a VHSL physical on file to participate.

All students interested in trying out for the Spring,2020 outdoor track season need to meet in the cafeteria with Coach Gary on Monday, Feb. 24 - Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 2:30pm, dressed in athletic apparel designed for running. You must get an athletic after-school pass from Coach Macklin in order to stay after school for tryouts. In addition, you must have a VHSL physical on file in order to participate. Once again, you must have a VHSL physical on file to participate.

Ms. Shorter’s 8th Period Personal Finance class will meet after school for a Chapter 5 Test on Monday, February 24th in Room C242.

We are hoping to have a fun week next week and engage our students in celebrating Black History Month and African American Culture, and what better way to do that than with a spirit week?! Here are the spirit week days:

  • We are encouraging door decorating in the theme of Black History Month and Cultural Celebrations
  • MONDAY: HBCU PRIDE DAY Wear your favorite HBCU attire
  • TUESDAY: TRAILBLAZER TUESDAY & TRADITIONAL AFRICAN ATTIRE We are asking teachers to identify an African American Trailblazer from your content area, and work that into a small segment of your lesson for the day. As a Do Now or sharing of a significant fact, identify the influence of black history on your specific content area. Teachers & Students are also allowed to respectfully wear traditional African attire. Head covers are allowed this day.
  • WEDNESDAY: TALENT POP UPS ALL DAY Be on the lookout for our magnet department, cheer & step teams to present pop up performances throughout the day.
  • THURSDAY: ICON & CELEBRITY DAY Dress as your favorite African American/ Historical Black figure.
  • FRIDAY: DOOR JUDGING & WOODSIDE JAM Door recognition and join us at Woodside Jam to celebrate the urban talents of students. Tickets are $5 at the door, and the show starts at 7:00pm.

Attention Juniors: Ring Dance tickets will be on sale starting today, February 26th through Friday, March 6th. The cost is $50. Cash, checks, or credit cards are accepted. See Ms. Garganta for more information or to purchase your tickets.

Woodside Jam is this Friday! The show starts at 7:00pm and will take place in the Woodside Theatre. Tickets are $5.00 and will be on sale during all three lunches on Thursday and Friday of this week. For the performers, there is a mandatory rehearsal on Tuesday right after school. Please see Mr. Mata ASAP for after-school passes. After-school buses will be available. Please see Mr. Mata with any questions or concerns.

Woodside’s Creative Writing students will be hosting their annual poetry slam, Rhapsodic, on Tuesday, March 3 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Admission is $5. Grab your family and friends and join us for a night of entertainment you won’t soon forget.
