Mr. Harris

In order for man to succeed in life, God provided him with two means, education and physical activity. Not separately, one for the soul and the other for the body, but for the two together. With these two means, man can attain perfection.

I graduated from the College of William & Mary in 1987, with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science. I have taught Elementary Physical Education in the Newport News School System for 30 years, the last 5 at Deer Park Elementary. I have also practiced Shorin-Do Kenpo for 30 years and hold the rank of San Dan, 3rd degree Black Belt.

I have made physical activity, fitness & nutrition a priority in my personal life and I am thankful that my job as a PE teacher provides me the opportunity to be a positive role model for my students.

I am able to help them discover how important physical activity is for the development of their bodies, their minds, and their character.

In my classes I stress respect, teamwork, determination and doing your best with activities that improve fitness, develop skills and stimulate the brain in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

I am dedicated to educating others about the importance Physical Education plays in the development of healthy, happy, intelligent students and eventually productive members of our community.
