Gifted Services Resource Center at Gatewood Learning Center, 1241 Gatewood Road, Newport News VA, 23601

Job Description: 

• Update the online library of gifted resources available to staff

• Develop a check-out/check-in Google document for the gifted resource library

• Create flyers and brochures for the gifted program

• Designed themed creativity packets for K-2 teachers to use with their students to include open-ended tasks, choice boards, and creativity challenges; include digital resources as well

• Prepare and assist with the the Advanced Learning Summer Readiness Program by identifying essential skills, vocabulary, and concepts needed before school starts for students to be successful in AP and IB courses

• Create documents for students on AP, IB, and advanced learning course strategies and hints and subject-specific readiness packets to include links to prompts and skill-builders.

• Compile helpful websites, videos, and online resources for subjects.

• Demonstrates punctuality, completes work with consistent attention to detail

• Ability to be creative and problem-solve

Special Skills Required: 

• It is preferable that the student has completed at least 1 AP and/or IB course as the intern will be working on Advanced Learning Summer Readiness Program materials.

• It is preferable that the intern be able to create Word documents, flyers, work with Excel, and Google forms/documents.

Special Attire or Equipment Needed: 

• • Chromebook for creating flyers, online gifted resources library, creativity packets, and Advanced Learning Summer Readiness Program information 

  • Business casual (khakis/slacks, polo/button-up, dresses/skirts must be knee length or longer without slits and follow NNPS guidelines)

Compensation Information: $13.00 per hour
